Graphic Designer

A Graphic Designer, or Commercial Artist, creates designs or visual concepts that deliver information through imagery, art and photographs. Their duties include liaising with a client to determine what kind of work and concepts the client has, generate ideas and create layouts that align with the client’s wants and needs.
**Responsibilities**
- Liaises with client to clarify aims of project brief, discusses media, software and technology to be used, establishes timetable for project and defines budgetary constraints;
- Undertakes research into project, considers previous related projects and compares costs of using different processes;
- Prepares sketches, scale drawings, models, colour schemes and other mock-ups to show clients and discusses any required alterations;
- Prepares specification and instructions for realisation of the project;
- Liaises with other parts of the production team to ensure graphic design fits with other elements, processes and timescales;
- Produces or oversees creation of the final product;
- Attend all team meetings, as required;

- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn and adjust to new systems
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Effective organisational and time management skills
**Education and Experience**
- Entrants have usually completed a foundation course, a BTEC/SQA award, a degree and/or postgraduate qualification
- Previous experience with same or similar role is desired
- Proficiency in graphic illustration software
- Capable of planning a strategy in relation to client needs
- Maintain a portfolio of prior work and maintain a client archive
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £20,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
