**Main purpose of the job**
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Teaching team with responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The post holder will deliver an outstanding customer service to prospective students, academic staff and student community.

The post holder must be proactive, efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to the University, thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required

**Duties and responsibilities**:
Acting as first point of contact for students, lecturers and the general public

Managing engagement monitoring for students

Updating handbooks

Requesting and collating programme information prior to start of academic year

Managing Student Feedback Questionnaires

Preparing, requesting and collating annual module review documents from Module Coordinators.

Responding to some student queries, including any requests for interim transcripts.

Circulating information to students as required.

Assist with arranging course field trips and other course events as required.

Assisting in the organisation of Open Days and Induction

To place orders through MyFinance (online financial system) as required.

To assist with the processing of payments for external lecturers and teaching activities

Assisting with servicing committees including for Student-Staff Consultative Committee and Departmental Teaching Committee meetings, Staff Meetings and any other ad hoc meetings as required

Receiving and distributing coursework to the markers and coordinating return of marked work to the students. (Supporting grade and feedback release on Moodle).

Using Portico to access information relating to student contact details, examination results etc

**Essential**

GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above

Previous administrative experience to a comparable level

Experience of organising your own work within deadlines and with competing demands and exercising initiative.

Experience of dealing effectively with a wide range of people, students and external

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including accurate grammar, spelling, and punctuation), with good attention to detail and an ability to write and present to a variety of audiences.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of people, including the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with a wide range of staff and students in a teaching and learning context

An excellent team player who is willing to help out when needed

Adaptable and resilient with clear demonstration of use of initiative to problem solve

**Desirable**

Previous experience of working in an educational environment
