**Your new company**
Our client, responsible for the creating a circulating tumor cell (CTC) harvesting technology which is FDA cleared for its intended use in metastatic breast cancer and is currently the first and only FDA cleared medical device to harvest intact circulatingcancer cells from blood - are looking for a R&D Lead to join their team.
**Your new role**
Responsible for managing a core functional group within the company, with the overarching goal of product development.
- Key responsibilities include identifying, resolving and escalating resource issues, as well as resolving technical, and operational problems by proactively identifying and managing potential risks to allocated projects
- Work across the organisation and with other Lead Scientists and Head of R&D to ensure the success of projects and company goals
- Manage projects that require considerable innovation resulting in a major impact on company performance, setting goals and determining route to delivery.
- Take a pro-active approach to managing own time and the group's time and priorities, as well as providing daily guidance to the team on work packages and corporate/project priorities
- Provide scientific expertise and advice to other members of the company
- Provide detailed, comprehensive plans and specifications for projects
- Identify, document and manage dependencies and risks for projects
- Manage procedures and metrics to monitor quality and mitigate risk and to ensure deadlines and budgets are met
- Manage key technical and analytical studies relating to circulating tumour cell biology
- Develop molecular assays (qPCR, digital droplet PCR, NGS)
- Represent the company to customers and manage relationships with external organisations and collaborators as required
- Work within the New Product Development process and provide documentation and supporting evidence to ISO13485 and 21cfr820 standard for gate reviews

**What you'll need to succeed**:

- PhD in Life Sciences, with post-doctoral experience or equivalent in oncology and molecular biology, ideally gained in the in vitro diagnostics or assay development/validation
- Experience in industry is essential
- Experience in project management is essential
- Experience in a range of molecular biology techniques (including (dd)PCR and NGS) is essential
- Molecular-based assay development experience is essential
- Must have experience working in a regulated environment - medical device or therapeutics. Experience with Medical Device regulations and standards including, but not limited to, 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, 93/42/EEC, IVD 98/79 EC, ISO14971, GMP, GLP and QSRa definite plus
