**Role Overview**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our Court of Protection team on a permanent basis. Working collectively with colleagues from across our Adult Social care service. You will ensure the needs of local vulnerable adults are safeguarded and provide professional advice on matters relating to finance. Holding a complex case load of appointeeship and deputyship cases managing and protecting the finance of service users and vulnerable adults, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective money management service.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To hold a caseload of both Court of Protection and Appointeeship cases, managing complex relations and dynamics with service users, carers and families to ensure effective safeguarding of vulnerable adults relating to their financial and property affairs, liaising with Key professionals across a range of stakeholders, including the Court of Protection & Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) to ensure cases of suspected financial abuse are escalated in line with local and national policy expectations.
- To manage a complex and challenging caseload, taking responsibility and ownership to ensure all cases are proactively progressed in accordance with the Court of Protection, DWP, service targets and deadlines
- To produce, deliver and evaluate client finance plans in order to address property and financial needs of the service user, ensuring carers and family members are engaged with and communicated to regularly, as part of the deputyship or appointeeship process.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to social care professionals, other colleagues within client finance and wider stakeholders such as social care providers and service users or their representatives.
- Act in the best interest of the service user, coordinate and gather information, and liaise with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure all queries and problems are satisfactorily resolved and that they support informed and robust decision making including preparing, attending & participating in meetings and decision-making forums, for example, Court appearances, Reviews, Panels, Case Conferences or team meetings

**Preferred Requirements**:
To succeed in this role experience is preferable in:

- Experience of working within an adult social care environment with a specialism of Court of Protection preferable
- Significant experience of working in multidisciplinary environments to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable adults including partnership working with a variety of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors
- Excellent customer care, interpersonal and communication skills, sufficient to provide a sensitive and personalised service to clients and to maintain good working relationships with others
- Experience of prioritising competing demands and meeting conflicting deadlines
- Comprehensive knowledge of welfare benefits and awareness of debt recovery procedures
- Knowledge of customer care principles
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, social model of disability and the range of social care provision available
