**About us**

Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a leading Insurer based in the City, who are looking to hire an Aviation Assistant Underwriter to join.

**The role**

To support the underwriters for pre-underwriting responsibilities including due diligence, processing, modelling and information collation.

According to experience to underwrite endorsements and less complex risks.

To manage matters regarding policy life such as monitoring NOCs and other aspects required from technical accounts.

Where necessary help oversee the Underwriting Assistants, including elements of processing and ensure that role is executed appropriately.

**Key accountabilities**

**Underwriting**
- Underwriting and underwriting support, processing, and servicing of new and renewal business
- Populate Aviation Models with all necessary material
- Support the Underwriters and Head in research and analysis where necessary
- Help to assess the performance of the account and suggest strategy developments
- Ad-hoc support for other parts of the Aviation & Space business where opportunities for individual development or project work presents itself

**Client/Broker Relations**
- Attend client meetings and support Underwriters in client development
- Develop and nurture Underwriter relationships with key broking partners

**Process Improvement**
- Identify and make process improvements for your area of expertise

**Project Management**
- End to end project management for projects within your own work area and contribute to any functional projects

**Risk and controls**
- Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible

**Reporting**
- Run, maintain and check reports as required

**Skills & experience**
- CII qualified at certificate level/part qualified at diploma level or equivalent experience
- Good systems knowledge, experience of using various company bespoke systems to interrogate data
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable with phone, Teams & face to face discussions with underwriters and other colleagues; confident in negotiation and networking scenarios
- High level accuracy and attention to detail. Maintain accurate, orderly and methodical paper and electronic files that should always be available for auditing and meet regulatory requirements
- Able to organise own workload effectively to meet service standards
- Good understanding of insurance and the terminologies used across all lines of Aviation & Space
- Good technical understanding about underwriting policy construction; able to read underwriting files and understand what data needs to be recorded
- Competent user of Excel & Word
