Job Title: Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

**Salary**: £22,499 (pro rata)

Hours: Full-time - 37 hours a week

Contract type: Fixed term appointment (4.5 months)

**Company Overview**

Esitu Solutions is start-up business comprised of a small team of Traffic and Transport psychologists working together with our clients and partners to develop solutions for improving driver and road safety. Based on scientific research, we create and validate digital driver training and assessment tools specifically for fleet drivers.

**The Role**

We are looking for a graduate-level research assistant to support a 4.5-month project in the development and evaluation of a video-based hazard perception training tools for ambulance drivers.

You will work with a small team to create and validate an ambulance training package using video-based content. You will help select sections of video footage that are suitable for a hazard perception test, assist our videographer with the editing process, and support a focus group of ambulance drivers in the iterative process towards a final set of hazardous clips. Following this you will lead on the data collection phase of the project, testing ambulance drivers on the hazard test and assisting with the statistical analysis, and subsequent report writing.

The role will require you to work in close collaboration with a local ambulance provider. It will also require travelling to collect data from ambulance drivers in their places of work.

**Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities**

The role will be primarily to assist with the development and validation of a hazard test and training for ambulance drivers. The balance of duties and responsibilities will be determined through discussion with the post holder’s line manager. The post-holder may also be required to contribute towards the development of other new digital training and assessment tools.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Collecting footage_
- Travel to ambulance centres in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire
- Set up cameras on an ambulance (training will be given)
- Travel in ambulances while filming
- Maintain equipment and manage data cards
- Transfer digital footage to PC
- Video Editing_
- Assist with identifying key sections of footage suitable for hazard perception clips
- Assist our videographer with the editing of the clips (training will be given)
- Organise a focus group of experienced ambulance drivers and associated experts, and assist with the running of that focus group
- To iterate our clips following feedback from the focus group
- Validation of Content_
- Forge and maintain an excellent working relationship with the local ambulance service.
- Liaise with the ambulance service to schedule site testing.
- Travel to ambulance sites to undertake a validation study with our final clips
- Ensure that all data is accurately recorded, documented, and backed up.
- Collation and analysis of the behavioural data from participants.
- Contribute to interpretation of data analysis and written report of findings.

- Disseminate relevant and regular information back to other staff members and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.

**Skills Specification**

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Essential_
- A full UK driving license
- Desirable_
- Post graduate qualification or PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Advanced driving qualifications
- Adobe Premiere Pro CC Certified Expert certification or equivalent.

- A strong understanding and experience of video editing software and techniques (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent).

- Familiarity with project management processes and methodologies.
- A good understanding of different video formats and codecs.
- Knowledge and experience of conducting and interpreting statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of relevant psychological theories and research design.
