Our Digital Services Group (DSG) is a diverse business unit covering a full range of digital capabilities that is tasked with meeting the technical needs of the most secure environments. They make a positive impact in programmes of National Security for the UK and its Strategic Partners, globally. The group is ultimately led by our CIO, Jack, with capability leaders across technical disciplines.

In support of their continued success, DSG’s plans going into future years will expand their solid foundations into exponential growth, without compromising on quality of delivery. To enable this, we’ve created a new leadership role; Head of Delivery for DSG. In this new role, you’ll be responsible for the overall delivery, reporting and advocating for best practice in projects and programmes that fall within DSG’s portfolio of services.

Although we’ll support you with a flexible, hybrid working practice, there will be a large proportion of this role that needs to be on-site, and with regular travel as our teams work in secure environments across our offices and customer locations. As a base, we’ve aligned this role to our Head Office, in Cambridgeshire, where it’s likely you’ll spend 2-3 days a week, but project-dependant.

How you’ll support us

This role is jam-packed full of variety. Your main missions though are to enable high quality delivery of projects and programmes, taking the reins of the day-to-day running of DSG, deputising for Jack when needed. You won’t directly manage individuals at present, but will have internal stakeholder influence across our matrix; establishing a clear line of escalation to support the future of how we plan, manage and deliver:

- Overall Project/Programme Management
- Resource and Capability Planning
- Financial Accountancy
- Reporting and Communication
- Continuous Improvement
- Priority and Conflict Management
- Risk Mitigation
- Mentoring in best practice

For our customers, you’ll also be a point of escalation and a stable advocate, so you’ll be actively close to existing actions in the delivery of their projects/programmes.

The invaluable experience you’ll bring, to help us achieve more

We’re expecting that you’ve done a similar role to this before, but maybe not in the same sector, so you’ll know the inner workings of a productive PMO within a technical organisation, but might not be familiar with our customers:
Essential, proven experience
- You’ve gained working knowledge of Project Management within an ITIL aligned service
- You’ve managed a responsive service, that delivers against changes in its pace/direction
- You’ve managed service-based projects, being responsible for the end-to-end delivery
- You can work collaboratively across a digital-based multi-skilled team
- You’re an articulate, level-headed stakeholder partner
- You’re a PRINCE/Agile/SCRUM (or similar) Practitioner

It would be great if you also have experience of working within ISO27001 and ISO20000, and also using your influence to indirectly manage teams.

Our non-negotiables:
Due to the highly-secure nature of the projects you will be involved with, you must be eligible to work in the UK and be eligible to undergo and maintain UK government SC/DV Security Clearance.
