**Theatre Club Leader, Oxford**
**Wednesdays: 3:10pm - 5:40pm [January Start]**

**Purpose of Post**
- Deliver high-quality performing arts teaching for FHTS on a freelance basis (this may include after school clubs, PPA cover or holiday workshops)
- Support the growth and development of FHTS by gradually taking on more responsibility as opportunities arise
- To enhance our vision which aims to provide high quality, financially accessible performing arts classes to primary school aged children

**Role Development**
- Selected applicants will receive an induction, training and continued support for the duration of the freelance contract. Opportunities for growth and development will be explored as FHTS continues to expand.

**Main Responsibilities**:
**Teaching & Leading**
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children by using a ‘child centred approach’ to the safeguarding of all pupils
- Follow local guidelines for the reporting of safeguarding concerns (in line with the FHTS safeguarding and child protection policy)
- Create a positive and supportive environment in which pupils feel happy and safe
- Provide high-quality activities in the following areas: Warm up games, Voice Work, Movement & Fitness, and Acting & Improvisation
- Lead planned activities with energy and enthusiasm
- Adapt activities where necessary to meet the specific needs of pupils with SEND
- Learn and teach songs, dances and playscripts
- Maintain high expectation for behaviour
- Establish a ‘culture of kindness’ within the class
- Lead by example, modelling good communication & listening skills and having a high energy, enthusiastic approach

**Main Responsibilities (continued)**:
**Pupils**
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with pupils
- Support and encourage pupils to participate fully in activities and get ‘stuck in’
- Gently encourage pupils to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things
- Support pupils in forming and maintaining positive relationships with one another
- Monitor children’s behaviour closely at all times
- Ensure that children’s behaviour is safe, kind and respectful at all times

**Creating a Safe Environment**
- Prioritise the safeguarding and welfare of pupils and follow safeguarding procedures meticulously
- Ensure that children are supervised at all times
- Administer First Aid when necessary (if trained)
- Set up and reset the working space at the beginning and end of sessions (this may involve moving furniture & equipment)
- Undertake appropriate and relevant training (this will include safeguarding training, prevent duty and first aid)
- Maintain positive working relationships with children, parents, schools and colleagues
- Work within the framework of FHTS policies and procedures
- Ensure that health & safety standards are met at all times
- Conduct environment Risk Assessments at the start of each session
- Follow any government or local guidelines relating to COVID-19.

**Job Types**: Freelance, Graduate

**Salary**: £25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 14 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
