**Role responsibilities**

We currently have the opportunity for a Head of Operational Planning to provide leadership in all aspects of rail replacement transport, alongside train and bus planning for special events. This role is critical for TfW’s reputation, customer satisfaction, financial results and delivery of key commitments.
- Lead the Operational Planning team in a positive way to ensure and engaged and high-performing team.
- Ensure that all aspects of operational planning are in place, including development and communication of specific plans for planned disruption and communicating it to the business and stakeholders.
- Lead by example, demonstrating behaviours that create a positive working environment and be a champion for Continuous Improvement.
- Provide oversight and reassurance to the rest of the business about the robustness of project plans that will affect the operation, reporting on risks and mitigations.
- Lead on establishing governance processes for all Operational Planning activities, establishing controls and reports which can be communicated to executive level.
- Operational planning for the business, including readiness for operational changes, such as planned disruptions, major timetable changes, developing Special Event train and bus plans, the management of all Road Transport contractual arrangements. The role will ensure that all aspects of operational planning are developed, well communicated and seamlessly handed over to the functions responsible for on the day delivery.

**Who we’re looking for**
- Good understanding of railway operations
- Excellent leadership, motivation and influencing skills
- Experience in leading teams in complex environments with financial, contractual and time pressures
- Proven track record of delivering objectives and results, both personally and through others
- Excellent communications skills, including reports and presentations to board level

**Welsh Language Skills**

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
