**Positive Behaviour Support & Autism Worker**

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support & Autism Worker to join our dedicated team based in Maesteg and Pencoed. You will be based at a service and you will be driving the vehicles of the people we support. As such, holding a full UK driving licence is mandatory due to the insurance terms set by the vehicle insurers. In this pivotal role you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation.

**Who do we support?**

In Maesteg, we support two 59 year old gentlemen who have Autism. They are twins & live next door to each other. We are looking for a people who can encourage them to do more - both in their home and within the local community. They enjoy going shopping, visiting cafes, going for pub lunches and visiting family. They both require help with personal care and daily tasks around the house, as well as encouragement and support.

In Pencoed, we support another two gentlemen in their Mid-late 30s. These gentlemen also have Autism. They are looking for someone who is fun and outgoing and can help them access the local community. They enjoy going shopping, cinema, cafés, pub lunches, attending shows, days out and community projects like walking and gardening groups. Both Gentlemen are very able but may require prompting to complete some tasks.

**So who are we looking for?**

We are looking for someone that is calm and will take the time to help these gentlemen express themselves. They like people who are fun to be with and will help them try out new things. When we have our Annual Mirus Star Awards, we take the people we support and we encourage them to get involved and vote for their friends, peers, support workers. You will be at these events and you will encourage them to live their best life. We believe in our staff and the people we support. You may understand the issues associated with people with complex needs, but we will provide in depth training and coaching. Being a Support Worker takes bravery, patience, and commitment. **Who are we?**

mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability. We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.

**What will you be doing?**
- You will build a wonderful relationship with the people we support working with them to achieve their goal, supporting them in the community.
- As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
- You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
- As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.
- You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.
