We are two men and a lady who live in the Maesteg area of Bridgend County. We live in a shared house. We are looking for support workers who can encourage us to do more - both in our home and out in our local community. We need 1 person, working between 30-35 hours per week.

One of the people supported said “I really love Sport, Football, Rugby and Cricket. I not only support the Welsh National team in Rugby, but also my local team in Maesteg and I go to watch their home games I support Liverpool football team and enjoy watching them on television when they play. I also go to watch the occasional match in Liverpool. I enjoy doing things in my local area of Maesteg, such as going for a pub lunch, playing pool, going to the cinema and meeting up with my family and friends. I also attend Men's Shed twice a week and love being part of this group.”

The other person supported said ”I love my rock music, with Iron Maiden being my favourite band & I like to go to concerts to see different bands. I love going to the local pub and have a regular that I go to weekly for a pint and a game of pool sometimes. I like to go for walks, and I enjoy walking to the local town from my home when I go for my shopping and lunch out. I also love aeroplanes and enjoy going to see air shows.”

The third person said, “I love to look around the local shops especially for clothes as I love to buy new seasonal wear to keep up with the fashion. I Love having my nails painted my hair curled and having my make-up applied. I also like musicals and my favourite is” Mamma Mia”. I enjoy doing small craft projects and some baking”.

The people supported also said that they require “prompting with our personal care and our daily tasks around the house. We would really love to become more independent and be able to do more of these tasks for ourselves, things like cooking and house maintenance.”

**So, who are we looking for?**

Someone who is calm and will take the time to help us express ourselves. Someone who can enjoy a bit of “banter” with us and can make us laugh We like people who are fun to be with and will help us try out new things. Someone who likes sport such as Rugby, Cricket, and Football, likes cooking and enjoys music. Ideally someone who knows the local area and what is going on in Maesteg and Bridgend as we love to keep up to date with all the local news. We also need a driver as we all have our own cars. We love a home cooked meal and like our home and garden to be homely and seasonal.

mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability. We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.

**What will you be doing?**
- As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.
- You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
- As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.
- You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.

You may understand the issues associated with people with complex needs, but we will provide in depth training and coaching. Being a Support Worker takes bravery, patience, and commitment. If you share our values and are willing to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you
