The Faculty of Creativity and Skills is looking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking animal care lecturer who has vision and drive to work with the existing team in the future direction of the animal care provision at Coleg Ceredigion. The post provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a pro-active and innovative person willing to deliver an outstanding animal care provision to learners on Level 1 to Level 3 courses.

Undertaking curriculum planning and delivery, you will prepare learning materials of a high professional standard and work flexibly. The postholder will be enthusiastic, pro-active and ambitious. Animal Care programmes range from Further Education courses at Level 1 to Level 3. Learners benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular activity and a well embedded tutorial support system.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Undertake the teaching, assessment and co-ordination of programmes of study leading to qualifications within Animal Care from Level 1 to Level 3;
- Provide support, as a member of the team in the administration and resource development within the area;
- Assist in the provision of Animal Care through liaison with industry and in the potential development of commercial courses;
- Contribute to the quality of provision through the internal verification system;
- Prepare resource materials and facilities in support of the assigned teaching;
- Ensure all classroom and practical training facilities comply with health and safety and other legislative requirements;
- Liaise with third party stakeholders as identified by faculty management, including, sector skills councils, HE institutions, industry bodies, employers etc;
- Organise work placement opportunities and monitor the learner experience;
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Principal/Chief Executive commensurate with the grade of the post at the initial place of work or other locations within the College.

**Skills Knowledge and Expertise**

**Essential Criteria**:

- Relevant degree or equivalent Higher Education/Advanced qualification
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
- GCSE English & Maths at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
- Relevant practical/industrial experience in animal management
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
- Sound understanding of digital literacy

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Relevant teaching experience
- Business experience in the land based industries
- A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
- A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
- Awareness of key performance indicators
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
- Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £24,049.00-£44,011.00 per year

Expected hours: 14.8 per week
