Trust Middle Grade Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Heart & Lung Centre at Wolverhampton opened in October 2004. It delivers an integrated Cardio-thoracic Surgery and Cardiology service. The Centre delivers approximately 1000 cardiac cases and 500 thoracic cases annually, including mitral and aortic valve repairs, together with a large PCI programme, including Primary PCI, and a successful TAVI programme.
Applications are invited for the post of Trust Middle Grade Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The post will be for a period of 6 months in the first instance to over a training grade vacancy.
This post is not recognized as an approved training post but is suited to someone seeking experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The post holder will be encouraged to attend teaching sessions for Registrars and to take part in clinical audit and research.
The Outpatient, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Cardiac Investigation Departments are situated on the ground floor. There are 27 surgical ward beds and 12 Cardio-thoracic Critical Care Unit beds, along with 3 dedicated Cardio-thoracic theatres on the 1stfloor. There are 35 acute cardiology beds with 3 cardiac catheter laboratories, 2 pacing theatres and 11 day care beds on the 2ndfloor.
