Stewarts is a family-owned business established in 1742 with a history that can be tracked back eight generations. We have three Garden Centres, a Nursery and a Landscaping division all based in Dorset and Hampshire. We also have a central warehouse and Head Office based in Christchurch, at which this role is based.
Our Finance Department is a critical part of our business and we are now seeking a highly organised Management Accounts Assistant with excellent communication skills and attention to detail to join the team at our Head Office in Christchurch.
As Management Accounts Assistant you will report to the Management Accountant and play a crucial role in supporting the Finance Team by providing management information reporting including monthly P&L and balance sheet reconciliations and support the month end process whilst assisting the wider team with various day to day tasks within the department.
This is a part time position working 22.5 hours per week.
The Role:
- Supporting the Management Accountant in the production of all month and year end duties, including journals, P&L and balance sheet.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, investigating any irregularities and escalating as required.
- Work closely with the team to continually review and improve the quality of financial control procedures and policies throughout the company.
- Drive the highest levels of internal and external customer service throughout the areas of responsibility.
- To undertake responsibilities within the Finance Team to provide cover as required.
- Other relevant ad hoc tasks as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills, including confident Excel user.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within a similar role is essential.
