HR Consultant

A dynamic HR Consultancy located in Wallingford, South Oxfordshire, is seeking a skilled HR Consultant to join their team. Specialising in empowering small businesses to optimise their workforce, we are a passionate and growing consultancy committed to creating thriving work environments.

**Role Overview**:

- Position: HR Consultant
- Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week
- Work Arrangement: Flexible working with a hybrid model (1 day per week in-office, travel to clients in and around Oxfordshire as required)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Engage directly with clients, providing expert HR advice and support across various sectors, including tech, creative, marketing, life sciences, and professional services.
- Build deep relationships with clients, becoming a trusted HR partner.
- Offer pragmatic, solutions-focused advice to business owners and line managers on a wide range of HR matters.
- Conduct HR checkups and audits on employment contracts and policies.
- Stay abreast of HR and employment law, delivering timely and accurate advice aligned with SME business objectives.
- Respond to ad-hoc HR queries, translating employment legislation into actionable advice.
- Draft various HR-related documents, such as employment offers, maternity leave arrangements, salary increases, contract variations, and resignation acknowledgments.
- Provide guidance and documentation for key HR processes, including redundancy consultations, TUPE consultations, performance management discussions, and return to work interviews.
- Develop job descriptions and person specifications.

**Employment Contracts and Policies**:

- Deliver new employment contracts and policies as part of the "First Employee Package."
- Update existing HR documents, ensuring compliance with legislation and client requirements.
- Revise employee handbooks and create visually appealing designs using Canva.
- Draft bespoke policies and procedures, including induction, performance management, bonus and commission structures, wellbeing, and equal opportunities.

**Projects**:

- Support clients on various projects, including Employee Engagement Surveys, B corp submissions, and salary benchmarking.

**Person Specification**:

- CIPD-qualified or part-qualified.
- Proven experience in HR Consultancy with expertise across generalist HR services.
- Confidence in handling complex employee relations matters.
- Experience in providing line management support to Senior Leaders and Directors.
- Proficient in drafting employment contracts and HR policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of employment law.
- Confident in presenting information to groups of employees and Directors.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Commercial understanding with the ability to translate it into practical steps.
- Organised and resourceful, able to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
- Attention to detail and reliability are essential.
- Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages, particularly MS Word.
- Own transport required for travel.
