**About Ayr Clinic**:
Ayr Clinic is a low secure hospital for males and females with mental illness and/or personality disorders, located in the coastal town of Ayr in West Central Scotland.
Our low secure service is spread over three wards, comprising of:
- 12-bedded male admissions unit
- 12-bedded female admissions unit
- 12-bedded mixed gender rehabilitation unit
We provide high levels of therapeutic care that is underpinned by evidence-based knowledge, delivered by a highly experienced team. Our individualised and group treatment programmes have clearly defined goals and outcomes for our patient group.
Treatment is offered in a safe and positive environment where patients develop their skills for independence, self-confidence and knowledge of how to manage their mental health and wellbeing. We work collaboratively with the residents to empower them, using recovery and person-centred approaches.
**Outline of the Job Role**:
We are looking for an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) to join our team. Our focus is on increasing independence, improving quality of life and promoting social inclusion for the service users in our care. Under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, you will deliver evidence-based interventions to support patients in their recovery. As an occupational therapy assistant, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing individual and group activities within the hospital and in the community. Additionally to assist the occupational therapist in carrying out assessments, formulate and run therapy programmes as well produce electronic records.
The occupational therapy team look to support individuals in maximizing their quality of their life in the least restrictive manner possible. You will contribute to care planning and risk assessments of patients to maintain and improve their level of functioning while with us and prepare them for discharge. The role will involve following a weekly structured timetable developed by the occupational therapist and being present on the ward on a daily basis to encourage the patients to engage in meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To support Occupational Therapists with the preparation, planning and delivery of groups and one-to-one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Observing, recording and reporting patient responses to the assented clinician as appropriate.
- Ensuring effective, timely and accurate updating of clinical records and note keeping.
- Assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients, assisting them to achieve optimum independence and safety.
