The Estates and Facilities Directorate is seeking to recruit a highly motivated maintenance assistant at the Freeman Hospital to assist with Planned preventative maintenance, minor works, and day to day reactive maintenance. The maintenance assistant programme is critical to achieving a suitable patient environment for all Wards and Departments to deliver the highest level of care.

- 37 hours 30 minutes per week

You will be required to carry out necessary repair works. In conjunction with the Building Supervisor, you will liaise with clinical teams when carrying out work in patient areas to ensure patient safety and Infection Control is not compromised so good communication and organizational skills are paramount to being a success in this role. It is essential you have an understanding of other works in relation to their own discipline to provide a coherent service when carrying out both maintenance and minor work schemes.

Principal Purpose/Dimension
- Work under the direction of a craftsperson while working alongside
- Carry out a range of individual and support duties including maintenance, clinical / general waste duties and respond to Estates emergencies.
- Assist with installation, repair and commissioning of equipment.
- Specific duties for site & plant room tidiness and safety
- Driving duties as required
- Carry out a range of maintenance activities on a variety of plant and equipment
- Domestic appliance repairs
