An exciting opportunity has arisen to come and join the Pennine Care Learning Disability Hub. The hub consists of five locality teams (Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Tameside and Stockport) and our new psychology-led trauma informed admission avoidance service, Radcliffe Place. The new service will support people with a learning disability who are aged 16-25 years old and experiencing a period of crisis.

This role will provide a wide range of clinical and research activities with plenty of opportunities for professional development. The post holder will work directly with and be supervised by an experienced clinical psychologist. The role will involve a diverse range of work including individual work, group work and with opportunity for research and service evaluation. There will also be opportunities to train in the administration of standardised assessments including neuropsychological assessments and HCR-20.

We are looking for individuals to join our new service who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a passion for delivering high quality care for people with a learning disability.

To assist in the delivery of psychological work within a newly developed Admission Avoidance Service for people with a Learning Disability (with or without autism), Radcliffe Place. The post holder will work under the clinical supervision of the Principal Clinical Psychologist within the service, working with service users with a learning disability.

The post holder will work within Radcliffe Place within the borough of Bury and will also (as required) work across the footprint of Pennine Care assisting with the delivery. Our new service aims to provide a therapeutic model of care to people aged 16-25 years with a Learning Disability with or without Autism who are experiencing a period of crisis by the provision of a service to reduce hospital admissions and offer of a de-escalation programme. To support and enhance the psychological care of young people and adults, within the Learning Disability Crisis Response Unit (and across the trust foot print as required), providing psychological assessments and interventions (including group work) under clinical supervision. To work independently to agreed operational objectives that are set and assessed at agreed intervals by the Team Manager and Principal Clinical Psychologist. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and projects, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, outcomes measures, teaching and project work as required.

Under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to assist in the psychological assessment of young people and adults with learning disabilities, using a range of assessment methodologies, including psychometric and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect structured observations, semi
- structured interviews, screening tools and routine outcome measures. Under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to undertake assessments of psychological and mental health problems, to inform interventions from the team or assist in the signposting of clients to appropriate. Under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to participate in functional assessment of challenging behaviour, and assist in the development and implementation of positive behaviour support plans for clients with complex and challenging needs. To contribute to multi-dimensional formulation of clients presenting problems, and assist in the formulation and delivery of psycho-educational and psychological interventions, and appropriate to level of knowledge, experience and training, under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. This might include the delivery of individual psychological therapy and the facilitation of psycho-educational or intervention based groups. Under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to write clinical reports, tailored to a range of audiences, including adults with a learning disability and their carers’. To assist the Clinical Psychologists in the delivery of psychological interventions at a systemic level, including psychological consultancy and training.
