Crewe, United Kingdom PAU Adventure Ltd Full time

**Job details**

Location: Office based in Haslington, Cheshire CW1 5TN, all expeditions within the UK

**Who are we?**

PAU Expeditions is part of PAU Adventure Ltd and is a well established provider that hosts and facilitates Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions, working with a wide range of schools, colleges and business around the UK. An accomplished outdoor education provider specialising in the personal development of young people. Our team of highly skilled instructors and expedition leaders, prides itself on delivering exceptional quality outdoor learning experiences through and a wide variety of activities, designed to enhance and develop the confidence, skills and leadership qualities of our participants.

**What we expect our Co-ordinator to be doing**:
As part of a small administrative team, flexibility is key and you may be asked to assist in just about any area of the business, from administering bookings, booking campsites, assisting with the delivery of courses, liaising with suppliers, sorting equipment, packing vans, hanging wet tents and much more. There will be occasional long days, outside of standard working hours and inevitably some overnight camping. You might get wet and cold, you might get sun burned (we advise you to use suncream) but we guarantee you’ll get all the fresh air you can handle, learn something new and have the time of your life on every expedition.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

- Co-ordinating the seasonal/freelance delivery team - including making expedition bookings, oversight of instructor qualifications and reaccreditations, performance management through, observation of the team’s on the ground delivery.
- Maintaining the instructor database, including responsibility for its compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Supporting the team with the logistics and administration of expedition equipment including making sure the kit is well maintained, and that the right kit gets to the right place at the right time.
- Contributing to the on call duty rota as our backup operations contact. This will involve being contactable (via your company mobile phone) out of hours on a pre agreed rota.
- Dependent on your own skills and qualifications, as part of the operations team, you’ll deliver elements of DofE courses as required.
- The role includes a requirement for regular weekend working (particularly in high season).

**What kind of skills and experience do I need?**
- NGB walking qualification is highly desirable - other relevant NGBs considered.
- Due to the nature of our business, as we regularly work with under 18’s, a successful enhanced DBS check is a deal breaker - with your permission, we can facilitate the check for you if you don’t already hold one that’s less than 2 years old and registered with the Update Service.
- You’ll need to be an experienced administrator and a confident communicator - a significant part of this role involves administration, so excellent grammar and spelling are essential as is confidence liaising at all levels both face to face and on the phone.
- Experienced and fully proficient with IT programmes including online data bases and Microsoft Office (in particular Excel spreadsheets).
- Highly motivated, confident to use your own initiative and not afraid to ask for help when needed.
- Well organised with the ability to focus on multiple workstreams and to prioritise effectively and to multitask when necessary.
- Able to collaborate effectively with our wider delivery team to fulfil agreed client programmes, ensuring a high level of participant satisfaction.
- Personable, approachable and comfortable dealing with enquiries, feedback, concerns, etc, from clients, instructors and participants, and delivering realistic outcomes in a respectful and positive manner.
- Experience in the leadership and provision of outdoor activities desirable.
- You’ll need a full (ideally clean) UK driving license, your own vehicle (suitable for transporting kit) and the confidence to drive small/medium sized van.

**What’s in it for you?**
- A full time, permanent position with a well-established company.
- A comprehensive induction with intensive training and mentoring, followed by as many opportunities as we can find for you to participate in our expeditions, focus on your own personal development and improve your skill set.
- A flexible working approach with variable hours to suit both you and business (likely more hours in the summer than in the winter).
- A cosy and well-equipped office in Haslington, Cheshire, that comes with complementary tea and coffee, and all the kit storage you could ever need.
- 29 days holiday per year (inclusive of bank holidays)
- A salary in the range of £23,000 to £27,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
- Company discounts including up to 30% off full price bikes, trainers cycling and running gear and 50% discount on all food and beverages in our café bar for you
