Manchester, United Kingdom Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Being a Community Midwife at Saint Mary’s (Managed Clinical Service) is being part of something special. That’s why we need amazing people who are adaptable, responsive to change and always looking to improve and develop innovative practice. Our maternity community bases include Wythenshawe, North Manchester, and Central Manchester (Oxford Road Campus) and you can choose your base to work at.

We provide a homebirth service which the community midwives support, with an on-call rota system and our community midwives are not required to support on site in the units at times of high activity.

You will be offered flexibility in working hours and shift patterns and we offer flexible hybrid working which includes working across inpatient areas or on the Birth Centre at North or Wythenshawe sites.

We have regular community training days, including working with Northwest Ambulance Service for home birth training. The community midwives work closely with the specialist young parent, refugee, and mental health midwives.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Matrons on the below phone numbers:
As a motivating and inspirational mentor, you’ll be a resource for all our midwives, support staff and students, encouraging a high level of achievement in everyone you work with. You’ll all ensure the clinical environment is conducive to supporting education and learning, and see that mentorship training is updated annually.

The maintenance of your own professional development will be key to your success, and you’ll also help to promote awareness of current developments in midwifery, and look out for every opportunity to increase your own knowledge, skills and expertise.

Dedicated to providing an environment that encourages patient-centred involvement, you’ll promote good working relationships with all the internal and external departments you work with, with the ultimate aim of providing the best patient journey possible.

MFT is one of the largest NHS Trust In England with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.
