Action Homeless are committed to ending the cycle of homeless and ensuring everyone has a decent and safe place to call home. Our mission is to ensure that no one has to sleep rough on the street in our City. We are passionate about ending street homelessness, and empowering people to achieve higher living standards and quality of life.

You may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults in challenging situations, and have transferable skills and competencies we are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service working towards reducing rough sleeping, and ending cycles of homelessness in Leicester, supporting people to access suitable crisis and longer-term accommodation.

As a Senior Officer you will:

- Have your own case load to manage, working with some of the most disadvantaged people who have experienced street lifestyles.
- Be a first response to referrals, carrying out assessments with people accessing our services, identify support needs and refer to relevant agencies
- Work alongside other agencies including, the local authority, mental health services, drug and alcohol, and housing providers.
- Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our service operate 365 days a year.
- Be a mentor for you team colleagues, providing advice and guidance and inducting new starters to the team

To be successful you will need to have:

- An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or adults with complex issues and supporting them to access services.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
- A commitment to working in a challenging environment with the ability to be highly flexible throughout the working day.

Good communication skills and confidence when representing Action Homeless to external organisations and forming strong working relationships with partners; being able to challenge them when required.
- Strong IT skills with the ability use online recording systems, client management systems, Excel, and Word, using all forms of technology.

The role will involve both office and accommodation based work in Leicester with occasional street access work. While some of your time will be spent working daytime shifts, Monday-Friday, the role includes some early morning and late-night shifts. This will also include some weekend working. Being able to move across the City quickly and efficiently is essential for this post and a clean drivers’ license would be preferable, due to the locations of our properties.
