Street Design Lead

Our team currently works across multiple frameworks for many local authorities around the country, and also provides support and advice to numerous government bodies including National Highways, Transport for Scotland, Welsh Government and Transport for Wales.
**Your purpose**:
As part of the Street Design team, you will join a team responsible for the design of complex Street improvement projects and provide support to our development planning colleagues across the country. The projects will involve collaborating with specialists from across the AtkinsRéalis business as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Typical Street Design projects may include town centre regeneration, junction/access studies, bus priority improvements, active travel schemes and development projects.
**What you can bring**:
Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate the following capabilities:
- A Civil Engineering degree, equivalent qualification, or demonstratable comparable experience.
- Ability to assess, manage the design and delivery of Street Design schemes in line with common UK highways standards (e.g. DMRB, MfS, TSRGD, current active travel design guidance etc.)
- Skilled in pro-actively communicating and collaborating with other specialist disciplines (e.g. drainage, street lighting, pavement etc.), with the ability to justify design decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working for Local Authority clients (either from within, or as a consultant), and an understanding of their design approval processes.
- Demonstratable experience of managing projects to time and budget, with experience of championing CDM requirements and health and safety risks.
- Proven success in leading and motivating teams in delivery of urban highways, transport, active travel and public realm schemes.
- Experience in the coordination of enquiries and diversionary work with statutory undertakers.
- Experience with bid writing and development of programmes.
- Professionally qualified (incorporated or chartered engineer) preferable.
**Experience in the usage of the following software is desirable, however not essential**:
- AutoCAD.
- Vehicle Tracking.
- PDS Lines and Signs, or KeyLines/KeySign.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- GIS Software e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS.
- MS Project.
