**THE ROLE**:
J&C Joel has an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join their Cutting and Inspection Team on a 12-18-month apprenticeship. The apprentice will be given the required training and support to develop their skills within the Cutting and Inspection department, whist working towards obtaining a Materials Cutting Apprenticeship qualification with the Textile College of Excellence. J&C Joel has a long and successful history of developing and retaining apprentices across a wide range of roles, some of whom have grown into senior or managerial roles.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**:
- Carry out inspection of fabric and materials for defects and colour checking
- Transport fabric rolls of fabric
- Operate machinery for fabric defect identification
- Inspect and cut fabric as per production schedule
- Flag any major defects to the relevant personnel
- Cut fabric to specification, utilising relevant machines and tables
- Undertake regular machine maintenance
- Pick and pack Drape Kit Packs
- Issue product to KIT of the works orders
The above duties, albeit being quite specific, are not all exhaustive and there may be times when other requirements are expected as well as reasonable Management requests.
**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:
- A keen eye for detail
- Punctual & reliable.
- Good decision-making skills
- Good planning and coordination skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and self-manage
- Shift work
- Basic IT Skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Good standard of GCSE, preferably level 4 in English and Maths.
**WORKING HOURS**:
**06:00 - 14:00**
Monday to Thursday - 06:00 - 14:00
Friday - 06:00 - 12:45
Including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
**13:45 - 22:00**
Monday to Thursday - 13:45 - 22:00
Friday - 10:15 - 16:00
Including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Total hours 36.25 hours per week.
**Must be open to shift work on a rotating 2-week cycle.
