**Job overview**:
Working under the direct supervision and direction of Registered Nurses and the Clinical Nurse Specialists who delegates tasks to the post holder. The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will deliver high quality nursing care to patients, as part of a team. The post holder is responsible for their own practice, working within the defined limits of competence and within the scope of the role. The registered nurses retains accountability for the care delivered by the HCA

**Main duties of the job**:
We are looking for a full time and part time Health Care Assistants to join our Urology department within the Urology Centre at Epsom Hospital, fixed term in view of becoming a substantive post.

The Urology Centre is a very busy unit with a well-established friendly team of nurses and radiographers.

We need a unique person for this role that is positive,enthusiastic to learn, and works well within a team.

You will undertake a range of duties within the centre, providing a nursing assistant role to the multidisciplinary team and when necessary working without direct supervision to ensure the delivery of effective high quality care.

- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Health & Social Care Level 2 certificate
- Must achieve Care Certificate within first 3 months of employment

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of working within a ward/hospital in a caring role
- Experience of taking and documenting basic patient observations such as TPR and BP

**Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
- Demonstrates an insight into personal care needs

**Skills**:

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate correct hand hygiene technique and importance of such
- Demonstrates an ability to listen and learn and escalate to RN
