Girlguiding South West England is made up of 16 Counties and Islands. It is the leading charity for girls and young women across South West England. It has a membership of over 57,000 members of which 12,000 are adult members and the remaining 45,000 are girls and young women: Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.

As part of the Region team, the Membership Support Assistant will reduce the amount of time that it takes for potential new volunteers to complete all of their recruitment checks and become a member of Girlguiding.

We are looking for an individual with an enthusiastic and positive outlook. In this role you will be representing Girlguiding South West England to potential new volunteers so you will need to be well presented, articulate, diplomatic and approachable, with the ability to build good relationships quickly especially over the phone. You will be proactive and will seek to learn from other staff and volunteer teams as required. You will need to possess a high degree of motivation, innovation, and creativity.

There is some flexibility in the working pattern, but the role will involve some evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given. While much of the support offered can be delivered from the region office, there will be the requirement to travel to all areas of South West England. This may include overnight stays. Expenses for such travel will be reimbursed in line with Girlguiding South West England’s travel and subsistence policy.

**Responsibilities**:

- To contact prospective volunteers to discuss their registration and preferences and follow up to ensure their enquiry is progressed.
- Follow up volunteer enquiries for the designated counties/islands that have been identified, following initial contact from the Region Office e.g. checking in with volunteer, support with arranging DBS/completing safe space, assigning mentors, networking events for new volunteers to ensure conversion to becoming a member.
- Produce a quarterly report to show the progress that has been made on the conversion of new volunteers to becoming members.
- Support the introduction of the welcome project by offering support to Leaders and Commissioners across the region.
- Support the opening of new units across South West England.
- Identify recruitment opportunities and represent Girlguiding South West England at relevant events e.g. volunteer fairs, articles in magazines, press coverage.
- Share information about initiatives that you have developed which could be replicated in other areas of the region.
- Respond to requests from Unit Leaders/Commissioners from around the region to give help and support for recruiting volunteers and young members for all sections.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: From £24,000.00 per year
