An opportunity for two full time Assistant Psychologists has arisen in neurorehabilitation services in the Mid Notts locality. This follows a successful bid to the Stroke Quality Improvement for Rehabilitation Project (SQuIRe) creating an opportunity to support the Clinical Psychology input across the stroke care pathway and also the progression of the current post holder in the Community Neurorehabilitation Team on to Clinical Psychology training. The posts will involve working under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists as part of multidisciplinary teams in either inpatient or community settings providing rehabilitation for patients with neurological conditions.

The post holders will support the provision of Clinical Psychology Stroke Services provided by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHT) and the Community Neurorehabilitation Service provided by Nottinghamshire Healthcare.
The main duties of the role will be to contribute to the implementation of mood and cognition care pathways in accordance with national guidance including conducting psychometric assessments with patients on the ward or in their own homes.
You will contribute to the provision of training the multidisciplinary team with regard to patients’ psychological and neuropsychological wellbeing in order to support a stepped care model.
You will support audit activities including gathering outcome information, supporting service evaluation and preparing related reports. You will support service related research as appropriate. The service will be run in line with relevant national guidelines, and you will be encouraged to engage with appropriate CPD plus mandatory training to ensure best practice.
You must have a BPS accredited Psychology Degree Upper Second Class or above and experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. You must have experience of working with vulnerable patient populations, ideally with people with neurological conditions. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of professionals, patients, and families.

- To carry out service evaluation or service-related research within neurological services under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. This may include carrying out literature reviews, planning evaluations, collecting and analysing data & producing written reports. This work involves close liaison with staff within the multidisciplinary team. A variety of methods of data collection may be required including: neuropsychological psychometric tests, patient observation & completion of questionnaires. To develop and maintain training packs, information leaflets, libraries of equipment and other tasks necessary to the efficient running of the service.
- To support the mood and cognition stepped care pathways including the completion of psychometric assessments relating to neurological populations. Assessments may involve: neuropsychological psychometric testing of cognition; patient observations; interviews, questionnaires and designing bespoke behaviour charts; analysing screening tools completed by staff.
- To support and carry out patient programmes and interventions relating to neurorehabilitation. To include: cognitive rehabilitation and advice; basic risk assessment, individual sessions; group work and offering psychoeducational
