Successful applicants will work in the Talking Therapies service whilst also studying at Lincoln University for 1 day per week for a Post/Undergraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions. Some training will be remote, but trainees must be willing to attend the university if required.

CLINICAL

Undertake psychological assessment of patients referred to the service. Assessments will include identification of the patients’ problem, comprehensive risk assessment and identification of goals for therapy.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to Steps2Change eligibility criteria.

Refer patients who are not suitable for Step 2 interventions to Step 3 high intensity treatment or other relevant service as necessary.

Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This may include Step 2 courses or groups; computerised CBT and Guided Self Help (GSH). This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media in line with IAPT guidance and training.

To deliver group or individual interventions in line with Steps2Change requirements and operational guidelines.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the Steps2Change service.

To attend team meetings, clinical skills meeting and training events as required by the Service.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

To successfully complete and pass the Post Graduate/Undergraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions.

To attend clinical skills and case management supervision.

PROFESSIONAL

Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g. BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. IAPT, National Institute for Clinical Excellence)

Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times

Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of low intensity CBT and other agreed psychological therapies

Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development

Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager

Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives

Keep up to date all records in relation to C.P.D. and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments

Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives

To contribute to the development of best practice within the service

To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures
