We are looking for an HCPC registered SLT, who is keen to expand their acute inpatient experience, by joining our celebrated and expanding band 6 rotation programme. The successful applicant will be part of our friendly and dynamic acute team and the wider MDT.

The department of dietetics and SLT employs approximately 100 staff, with over 30 SLTs including clinical experts, working across a range of specialties and provides services to both adults and paediatrics. You will work within a supportive team which covers neuro, critical care, cardiac, respiratory, stroke, paediatrics and voice to name a few.
Our band 6 programme is a 9-month rotation and offers clear objectives for each rotation.

There are internal and external CPD opportunities and MDT meetings, with the chance to engage in service evaluation and improvement.
Your main duties

**You will**:

- Complete daily patient data and measure clinical outcomes
- Work closely with MDT colleagues planning and goal setting for individual patients
- joint sessions
- Liaise with relatives and carers to provide support with individual’s communication and swallowing function.
- Design and implement swallow rehabilitation programmes
- Contribute to capacity assessments /decisions
- Deliver regular individual /group therapy sessions
- Collect and act on patient and carer feedback
- Support less experienced colleagues, including students
- Complete an audit and/or specific project
- Provide training to ward staff and MDT colleagues

We take pride in being a tertiary centre, providing highly specialised treatment for our patients who have complex needs as well as undertaking instrumental assessments (VF and FEES) as a crucial part of the management of dysphagia. These posts offer a wide range of opportunities to be able to develop your knowledge and professional skills.

The Trust encourages innovation and quality improvements and all staff have the chance to be involved in projects, audits and clinical effectiveness schemes. As part of this initiative we have developed a virtual learning dysphagia awareness training module. With our close links with Southampton University this is a stimulating environment to work in. For example, we have been able to support academic development such as short-term internships, post-graduate courses and clinical academic careers.

- and out-patients within our Band 6 rotation programme
- Have the opportunity to attend and contribute to daily MDT “board rounds” to offer timely SLT input.
- Provide communication and swallowing assessment and therapy.
- Have opportunities to represent the SLT service and be innovative in your approach to patient care and service delivery whilst being part of the dynamic MDT developing service initiatives..
