An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an innovative team of gastroenterologists at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. This is a 10PA, fixed-term locum post for a period of 3 months.

The Centre for Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides secondary and tertiary diagnostic services to hospitals throughout South Yorkshire. Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for GI physiology and paediatric endoscopy.

Applicants should possess, or be within six months of receiving, CCST/CCT in general paediatrics with sub-specialisation in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with Consultant colleagues.

The appointee, alongside Consultant colleagues, will be responsible for providing a paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutritional service for Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.

**The appointee will be**:

- expected to work flexibly to ensure delivery of the team’s activity targets - this will include not having a fixed commitment to lists or clinics for part of the time to enable the appointee to pick up handed back lists from within the team and support cover of outpatient and theatre sessions by the team
- expected to develop a specialist interest within the field of paediatric gastroenterology/hepatology/nutrition and contribute to research.
- be required to provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for the patients in their care and for the proper functioning of the department.
- Take part in the training programme at undergraduate and postgraduate level. They will also be expected to contribute to the yearly JAG approved endoscopy training courses.
- Expected to work with the Trust management to make optimum use of Medical Wards and other resources to contribute towards providing a high quality acute medicine services for children and meeting relevant Trust targets
- Expected to take active part in local, regional and national audit as appropriate.
- Participate in the Trust's Consultant Appraisal Programme which includes an element of mandatory training.
