As a Volunteer Coordinator you will:
- Respond to all volunteer requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Recruit and induct new volunteers for all areas of the organisation.
- Prepare and review volunteer paperwork including roles descriptions, volunteer agreements and volunteer policies and procedures.
- Lead recruitment and induction events for new volunteers.
- Manage the volunteer rota ensuring there is adequate cover for all volunteer activities including evening and weekend events.
- Provide regular supervision for all volunteers and be the first point of contact for any queries of issues.
- Facilitate and/or book training volunteer training sessions, ensuring volunteers are appropriately trained to carry out their role.
- Develop existing volunteers in their roles within the organisation.
- Prepare reports for Board of Trustees, SMT and organisation cascade.
- Network appropriately and develop partnerships to ensure the effective promotion of volunteer opportunities.
- Effectively market volunteer opportunities to a range of communities.
- Work closely with across all projects to ensure the effective implementation of the organisation’s volunteer strategy.
- Ensure outputs and outcomes are captured through completion of monitoring of the volunteer programme through the completion of registers, registration forms, monitoring forms and evaluation forms.
- Ensure the volunteer programme is accessible and meets the needs of the diverse Manchester community.
- Maintain awareness of child protection / safeguarding issues and report any such concerns as a matter of urgency.
- Support the development of effective service user involvement activities in order to ensure the continued development of PTMWA services.
- Maintain a safe living/working environment within all PTMWA premises by undertaking risk assessments, health and safety checks, inspections as appropriate and crisis management.
- Follow strict PTMWA confidentiality procedures for all service users and their families.
To be successful as a Volunteer Coordinator you will need:
- A good standard of general education
- Relevant professional qualification, for example, Health and Social Care Level Three or equivalent experience
- Volunteer management qualification
- Recent and relevant experience of working with/ coordinating volunteers
- Experience of working within the voluntary sector or a commitment to the aims of the VCSExperience of developing volunteers in their roles
- Understanding and awareness of child protection, vulnerable adults protection and safeguarding
- Good understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Good level of understanding of the impact of domestic abuse
- Good level of numeracy litercay report writing and IT skills
- Ability to plan and organise own workload and mee deadlines
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively with partner agencies to obtain appropriate outcomes for the programme
- Willingness to work flexibly and able to travel to different sites
- Ability to prepare and present reports in a concise manner
