Barnardos THEWMHS provides dedicated therapeutic support for children and young people (CYP) living within Tower Hamlets. Working in partnership. We focus on building stronger families and improving children and young peoples emotional health and wellbeing.

The over-arching aim of the service is to improve the emotional health andwell-being of CYP (10-25 years). This will be carried out in a variety of ways including one-to-one, group and/or digital interventions, the majority of which will be community based. We provide confidential, timely support to children and young people.

(CYP)

We act as advocates for children and young people and their families to ensure that they receive services to which they are entitled.

We work together with other agencies to protect children and young people, focusing on ensuring that every CYP can reach their potential.

We promote a whole family approach to supporting CYP and their families.

**Initial Specific Responsibilities**:

- To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of therapeutic interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
- To carry out assessments, plans and reviews with children, and young people and to deliver evidence based therapeutic interventions.
- To focus on the need to have CYPs views represented so that a user led service is maintained and young peoples rights are promoted.
- To attend multi agency reviews, core groups and CP conferences where required.
- To work co-operatively with childrens services, health agencies and other community-based services, to provide the most effective service
- for children young people and families.
- To provide outreach to advertise the service and raise awareness ofthe needs of the CYP which the service is working with
- To contribute to Service development
- To attend both clinical and managerial supervision sessions, staff
- meetings and training events. This role involves working closely with relevant agencies to ensure that
- children and young people are seen in a holistic manner.
- The service provides short-term therapeutic and other evidence-based
- interventions, ensuring CYPs voices are heard, listened to, and acted upon.
- This Service utilises a single overarching outcomes model our copywrite
- CSSO model (Child-directed, Systems Focused, Strengths Based, Outcomes
- Informed) for which we will provide training. Staff involved in this model will
- need to be appropriately qualified clinicians and include qualified, counsellors,
- arts therapists CBT practitioners etc.
- This role involves supporting the service delivery of short-term therapeutic
- interventions (typically 6-12 weeks) to children, young people, and their
- families in a community setting. In addition, it will involve holding a small
- caseload of complex cases, leading on safeguarding and/or professional
- development of staff members, as well as providing day-to day support and
- line management/case management to a small number of staff.

- Additional Essential/desirable criteria
- Applicants will need to be a fully qualified clinician e.g., CBT, brief
- solution focussed therapist, counsellor, or psychotherapist, registered
- with an appropriate governing body (E)
- Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and
- Psychotherapy, Play Therapy UK, Health Care Professions Council, or
- British Association of Art Therapists or similar. (E)
- Experience of direct delivery of therapeutic interventions to CYP of both primary and secondary school age with a range of complex needs(E)
- The ability to supervise less senior members of staff and or volunteers(D)
- Ability to manage own diary, to include a high case load of clients amongst other competing priorities (E)Confident in promoting this new service, encouraging links with relevant agencies and schools; working with a range of staff at differing levels.
- Able to work on own initiatives and work to a set of tight deadlines and specific targets. (E)
- Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Play Therapy UK, Health Care Professions Council, or
- British Association of Art Therapists or similar. (E)
