The post holder will provide support, under the supervision of a qualified nurse, to a variety of patients needing 1-1 enhanced care, some of whom have confusion, dementia, delirium or mental health challenges.

You will be expected to do all personal care for your patients, assist with meals and toileting needs, documentation, distraction therapies, activities, and encourage mobility. You will assist in planning and coordinating activities that promote active daily living for each patient as an individual or with a group of patients in a bay.

You will provide activities that have been identified through a collaborative approach that encourages the involvement of patients and their carers/family; enhancing the quality of life and mental wellbeing of patients, promoting a shorter length of stay for the patient in a hospital environment. You will work as part of a nursing/multidisciplinary team to action any assistance required to deliver fundamental care needs as they arise.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals for Enhanced Care Support Workers to join the Bank and support the provision of enhanced care to patients at Blackpool Victoria and Clifton hospital sites.

We are looking for bright, innovative, caring, and compassionate individuals to be part of our friendly Temporary Staffing Team. Our vision for this post is to recruit inspirational, patient-focused individuals.

Enhanced Care Support Workers provide direct care and 1 to 1 support to a specific group of patients who may be confused or agitated due to illness, or other conditions, and therefore require an enhanced level of care during their hospital stay.

You will work in our clinical teams under the supervision of a registered nurse and work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide the best outcomes for patients and their families.

In return you will receive a full clinical induction and training as a new healthcare assistant, and specific training for the Enhanced Care role to ensure you are prepared and supported. In addition, you will be expected to complete your Care Certificate within your first 12 weeks and will be supported to achieve this.
