**About Penguin Michael Joseph**

Penguin Michael Joseph is a leading commercial fiction and non-fiction imprint of Penguin Random House, publishing best-selling titles across an array of genres such as crime and thriller, romance, cookery, memoir and lifestyle. Our authors include household names like Marian Keyes, Jojo Moyes, Dawn French, Nadiya Hussain, Jamie Oliver and Stephen Fry.

**The opportunity**

We are looking for an organised and passionate Marketing Assistant to support the Comms Director and our busy Marketing team, working across Penguin Michael Joseph’s books. This is a brilliant first step into marketing and the publishing industry and is a permanent position.

Responsibilities will include:

- Managing a range of administrative processes to help the smooth-running of the Marketing team and campaigns, including finance administration such as raising purchase orders, paying invoices, and reconciling budgets
- Providing administrative support to the Comms Director, such as diary and schedule management, preparing reports and agendas, taking minutes and collating visuals / materials
- Acting as a point of contact for the team, fielding phone calls and answering queries
- Submitting materials for new books (e.g. jackets, proof copies) to booksellers and reviewers
- Supporting on campaign activity, including the creation of creative assets: from engaging online content to point-of-sale
- Building relationships with key contacts in all other departments across the company (including Sales, Publicity, Production and Editorial)

**What you’ll bring**

You don’t need publishing or marketing experience - we are looking for someone enthusiastic, curious and passionate about connecting readers with our best-sellers.

You’ll have:

- Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills
- Excellent organisation and the ability to prioritise competing demands
- Time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- An interest in pursuing new marketing opportunities and new ways of reaching readers, staying on top of wider book trends
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

**How to apply**
- _
Please tell us why you’re interested in working at Penguin Michael Joseph._
- _ Describe a recent, successful marketing campaign you’ve seen and why you were impressed by it._

**Our hybrid working approach**

PRH is currently experimenting with hybrid working and involving colleagues across the business to shape our future ways of working. The needs of our teams and individuals are different, so we’re not taking a one-size-fits-all approach. This role is based in London and we’ll expect you to work 2 days a week from our Nine Elms office. The exact balance of office to remote working will depend on the nature of your role and team needs, and we are open to discussing this through the recruitment process.

**What you can expect from us**:
**Salary**: You‘ll start on £26,500. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role to reflect your growing contribution.

Our employees are the heart of our business. We have a range of benefits to reflect our commitment to our employees, some of which are:

- 27 days paid holiday entitlement in year one (plus bank holidays), increasing a day each year up to 30 days
- Medical cover
- Life assurance
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Discounted gym membership
- Generous pension scheme
- Summer working hours (role dependent)
- Volunteering policy and charity matching
- Employee Assistance programme
- Mentoring programme
- Extended gender neutral parental leave
- Access to books and eBooks across Penguin Random House UK
- Each site has trained mental health first aiders
- We plant a tree for every new employee to our business

**Our creativity is inspired by different perspectives, so we want our culture to be one of belonging, where everyone feels welcome and where differences are celebrated.**
