**Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)**

**Location: Somerset**

**Salary: £28, 850 pro rata Part Time - 20 hours per week**

**Contract Type: Permanent**

**Essential Criteria**:

- Relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ 5 **or** equivalent work level experience
- Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends
- Ability to work flexibility and deliver a 24/7 on call service with others
- Ability to work across the contract area and travel across the YOU area for training and meeting purposes
- Car driver with use of car and car insurance for work purposes

**The Role**:
The role of the IDVA is to work closely with people who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse and assessed as high/medium risk and where targeted and specialist support is required. All IDVA’s provide high quality advocacy and support, identifying other members of the family and children, who may be also be at risk. The role involves multi-agency working and engaging with local partners and receiving referrals from and attending/preparing reports for court and other meetings such the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and other victim focused meetings. You will provide one to one sessions, be part of a training team, write and deliver recovery group work and work in close partnerships to build sustainable relationships in our communities.

**About you**:
The ideal IDVA will have:

- Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working
- Experience of person-centred service delivery and enabling client involvement
- Knowledge of best practice in relation to domestic violence and abuse in refuge and community based settings
- Knowledge of the function of the MARAC
- Experience of undertaking DASH RIC
- Knowledge of Homelessness legislation and prevention and housing law
- Knowledge of welfare benefits including no recourse to public funds
- Knowledge of and commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of local, regional and national domestic violence and abuse agencies
- Knowledge of trauma informed practice and how it relates to domestic abuse
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritise own case load
- Ability to develop and present well-structured cases in settings such as MARAC and criminal and civil proceedings
- Ability to self-reflect and develop and improve practice through training and review
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends
- Ability to work flexibility and deliver a 24/7 on call service with others
- Ability to work

**The Service**:
Paragon (part of the You Trust) is the Hidden Violence and Abuse Service covering Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This innovative and exciting service works with victims of domestic abuse, stalking, sexual crime and children and young people. Our services aim to support the whole family where we are able.

The service offers a variety of support and interventions including outreach, refuge, target hardening, court support, and recovery groups.
