The Production Planner role is an intrinsic part of the Precision Components division at Wall Colmonoy and an essential link between Operations and Commercial teams. Responsible for maximising the effective use of current employed planning system Microsoft D365 to streamline operations within Casting and Machine Shop areas.
This role involves developing data-driven solutions to optimise delivery performance and maximise customer satisfaction. The expectation is to efficiency plan manufacture, seek opportunities for improvement and cost reduction whilst monitoring Operations adherence to plan, advising of any failures or risks.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager - Precision Components, this is an essential role to help grow the business and challenge the status-quo seeking strategic opportunities for improvement. The Production Planner will be expected (but not limited to) to complete the following tasks:
**Leadership**:
- Develop and execute a planning strategy for the business to ensure strong performance as a basis for profitable business growth
- Set high standards in all aspects of planning work, leading by example and fully supporting the planning process and team in all aspects of its work
- Provide solid and consistent leadership, coaching and mentoring to the planning and operations team to drive best practice and continuous improvement
- Lead and manage a culture change programme within the planning function and the wider business, establishing a “can do & will do attitude”, with a strong focus on taking responsibility and “getting the basics right”
- Set new standards within the planning processes based upon a Best Practice model and driving towards World Class
- Lead by example and reinforce the principles of accepting Responsibility, Ownership and Accountability throughout the planning function
- Implement all company policies in full within the whole planning function
**Functional**:
- Ensure production schedule and actions are carried out to drive the organization to meet or exceed planned sales and profitability targets with second-to-none OTIF delivery
- Establish a system to create and regularly update stakeholders within the business and ensure these schedules and plans are communicated and rigorously adhered to
- Be an important member of the team developing capacity models and manufacturing plans to meet current as well as future business needs and growth objectives
- Day to day management of all aspects of the production control team focused on customer demand, material requirement, capacity planning, generation of manufacturing and dispatch plans
- Ensure the business is adhering to or surpassing the cost plans and create / maintain a regular reporting structure to drive continuous improvement in cost control and cost reduction
- Administration of customer orders confirming lead-time are in line with quotation and driving continuous improvement in lead-times and OTIF
- Manage production schedule to identify risks and mitigate / resolve these risks before they occur
- Develop and act upon meaningful and focused KPI’s including the creation of regular reports incorporating current performance as well as improvement plans
- Manage the Supply Demand Review process across all areas of the business ensuring this process is embedded, actively implemented and continuously improved
- Develop standardised processes and procedures to support all aspects production scheduling within the business, aimed at optimising equipment performance and utilisation as well as people productivity
- Reduce all aspects of inventory and increase stock turns
- Coach and mentor all members of the production control team and develop our human resource as effectively as possible
