Job Introduction
This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to our front-line teams and corporate business functions in the safest, most efficient, and effective way.

The Commercial & Procurement (C&P) team leads the design and delivery of commercial strategies to provide solutions for a diverse range of operational and commercial challenges. We cover the whole lifecycle of category strategies, sourcing and supplier management, all of which are underpinned by our procurement operations team.

We are passionate about safety and procurement excellence, working closely with our colleagues and the supply chain to provide solutions that deliver great value for passengers.

Main Responsibilities
This is an exciting role that sits in the Commercial And Procurement (C&P) Strategy Team. You will be working very closely with the C&P Strategy Director to support the delivery of an efficient, high performing, and professional Contracts and Procurement function. You will be developing and co-ordinating reporting activities across a variety of projects and programmes. These include C&P efficiencies, our sustainability agenda, delivery of key milestones, our Commercial Academy, SME’s and Safe Service.

This is a really interesting and varied role where you will get lots of exposure and engagement. It will also provide a great opportunity to work on exciting projects that will facilitate continuous improvement of the C&P function. It will suit someone who has good project management expertise and is looking for a challenging, yet rewarding role.

Some of the key aspects of the role include:

- Support the C&P Strategy Director with the creation and management of a 5-year C&P Roadmap, tracking progress, financial business case deliverables & milestone commitments, escalating risks and any slippages
- Facilitate the management of the C&P business review reports, to include the complex and Periodic Business Review (PBR), aligned to the team Balanced Scorecard, to support the C&P Strategy Director in their executive reporting obligations and senior leadership team performance objectives and commitments
- Co-ordinate planning and periodic based reporting to the C&P Strategy Director and Finance around the C&P annual budget, to manage and mitigate unplanned budget increases and deliver a positive year-end budgetary outcome
- Manage and co-ordinate the development of C&P documents to time and agreed levels of quality. Prepare briefing material and produce presentations and papers suitable for submission to the C&P Leadership Team and Route Services Executive Leadership Team (ELT), to support the timely and professional execution of commitments and deliverables
- Plan and deliver C&P periodic team building and team meeting events, to support the C&P Strategy Director in successful leadership engagement, communication and team development, aligned to the 5-year C&P Roadmap

Essential
- Educated to a business degree standard or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrable experience of change management and project management
- Experience in budget management and financial reporting
- Outstanding verbal communication, writing skills and presentation skills
- Strong technical skillset, particularly in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrable experience of working with and supporting senior leaders
- Ability to develop a good network of contacts internally and externally
- Strong influencing skills and ability to build relationships
- Self-starter and highly motivated, with an excellent organisational skill set

Desirable
- Knowledge of Category Management, Sourcing and Supplier Management
