Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Author with a background in major engineering and construction projects to be engaged on a permanent basis in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced MEICA Technical Author to join our dynamic team. As a MEICA Technical Author, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and clarity of technical documentation for our projects. You will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, including operation and maintenance manuals, user guides, specifications, procedures, and other supporting documentation.

**Responsibilities**:
- Create comprehensive and well-structured technical documentation, adhering to company standards and industry best practices.
- Edit, proofread, and revise existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and readability.
- Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across all technical documents.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and address any comments or concerns regarding the documentation.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance and provide accurate information.
- Manage document version control and maintain a central repository for easy access and retrieval.
- Assist in the development and implementation of document management systems and processes.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Author, preferably in the MEICA industry.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts and terminology.
- Proficiency in using authoring tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar software.
- Familiarity with document management systems and version control tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
