**Job overview**:
**We have an exciting operational opportunity within the Planned Care Directorate team at the Rochdale Infirmary for a Band 4 Failsafe Officer in Ophthalmology.**

You will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to perform in a rapidly changing environment whilst achieving challenging deadlines.

**Main duties of the job**:
As a Failsafe Officer for the Service, you will ensure the supervision and provision of an efficient and effective administrative service, including monitoring of patient waiting times and pathways.

You will be supporting the Directorate and Assistant Directorate Manager to ensure optimum and ongoing performance in line with corporate objectives.

You will have hospital administrative experience, with the ability to achieve results and targets whilst working collaboratively with clinical colleagues.

- Proven GCSE level or equivalent.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Certificate in Management Studies / Recognised supervisory qualification
- ECDL

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Substantial administration experience.
- Experience/Knowledge in the use of PAS
- Ability to demonstrate leadership/management
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working in a demanding environment
- Management of Waiting lists
- Experience of managing budgets / resource allocation

**Skills & Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Excellent planning / organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff within the organisation
- Keyboard/IT skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Good influencing and negotiating skills
- An appreciation of the NHS, its infrastructure and partner health organisations
- Awareness of the Data Protection Act and the need for confidentiality
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service
