2. The Service and Area

The External and Corporate Relations team leads the University in both its outward facing activities and our internal corporate relationships and communications. The team covers a range of activities, including Marketing, Communications,
Recruitment/International, Alumni and Events.

The External Relations staff comprises a mix of specialisms to ensure the University is positioned with a distinctive voice and creates impact in terms of both reputation and revenue.

3. The Role

**Main purpose of role**

The key activities of the Communications team cover internal and corporate communications, media relations, social media management, brand awareness and promotion, and reputation and stakeholder management.

This role will sit within the Communications team of the External and Corporate Relations
(ECR) Directorate, reporting to the Communications Manager and the post holder with work closely with colleagues across the University more widely.

In addition to the core functions above, the role requires a flexible attitude to working across teams and an ability to create and edit digital content, video and written copy for our internal and external channels.

**Role Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Contributing to idea generation, content planning and delivery on set communications and

PR campaigns
- Shooting and editing video packages to promote research, events, academic programmes, staff/student/alumni success, student support and any other projects as required
- Quickly and accurately subtitling all video packages
- Acting as the University photographer for a wide range of events, stakeholder engagement visits and internal communications requirements
- Co-managing the University’s video and photo file archives and YouTube and Vimeo accounts.
- Creating video content in a range of lengths, formats and tones to suit the University’s range of social media channels.
- Organising and recording video-based podcast sessions
- Use of motion graphics tools to create content
- Brief internal clients involved in the production and prepare technical documents about the process as necessary.
- Liaise with external organisations on logístical matters relating to our filming.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes of practice and health and safety laws.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Maintain and build relationships with internal clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain all professional equipment.
