**Trustees - Foundation Scotland**
**Pro-bono (with reasonable expenses)**
As Scotland's only community foundation, we are part of a family of forty-seven similar foundations across the UK, and a global field of 2,000 foundations, each inspiring change in their community.
Working in partnership with donors and communities, we have distributed more than £170 million to grassroots organisations across the country, from Shetland and Stranraer, to Portree and Dundee. These funds have achieved wide-ranging impact, for example they have supported young people into employment, reduced social isolation, grown community food projects, improved physical and mental wellbeing, and created community facilities, energy schemes and green spaces.
We bring donors and local communities together, supporting people to direct their giving to issues and causes important to them and where it's needed most.
These are exciting times for Foundation Scotland. We are embarking on an ambitious programme to build our capacity to deliver for even more communities across Scotland, and to support this, we are looking to expand our Board of Trustees.
We are looking for Trustees who can share skills and experience in one of three areas:
- Public affairs
- Community engagement and development, especially in an urban context
- Philanthropy engagement, particularly from a personal perspective
You may be an experienced board member or could be looking for your first non-executive role. What's important is your passion and commitment to what we do.
We have a schedule of online and face-to-face meetings and gatherings through the year, to balance accessibility and efficiency with building cohesive relationships across the Board and the whole Foundation team. We are keen that our Trustees not only add value in their role but also feel inspired, confident and engaged as part of our team, and therefore detailed induction and development are provided.
Diversity in our Board matters to us, as does ensuring that we look at equity and inclusion in the broadest possible way. We welcome all potential Trustees, and we encourage applicants from the widely diverse range of backgrounds which reflect the communities we support.
Whether social or professional diversity, we are committed to ensuring that we grow and change for the right reasons.
Foundation Scotland's Trustees work together to ensure the organisation is provided with effective leadership and governance. Our Trustees are committed and diligent, and act in Foundation Scotland's best interests. They discuss, debate, review and act with one voice.
