Dorset County Hospital is the Lead Provider for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services in Dorset. There is close working partnership with Dorset Healthcare to co-ordinate and deliver a Dorset-wide pulmonary rehab service. We are looking for a Physiotherapist, Nurse or Occupational Therapist with an interest in respiratory conditions, to join the expanding Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation practitioner is an experienced clinician who carries and independently manages a full specialist clinical caseload. They work within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation team and are responsible for supervising designated members of staff within the specialist team.

The post holder will assess patients for the suitability of joining Pulmonary Rehabilitation and will also participate in the rolling programme of education and exercise classes for patients to improve their management of theirlong-term lungcondition. They will use clinical evaluation at the end of each course/session and signpost patients to other services as appropriate.

We are committed to audit and research across the speciality and take part in National audit reporting for Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties and to carry a significant caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations
- To work at an advanced level and be professionally and legally accountable for a specialised patient caseload, and decide priorities for own work area, without direct supervision.
- Be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development. Ensure that your practice meets the required professional standards.
- Assess patients' suitability to join the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program
- Manage and participate in the patient exercise and education sessions
- Maintain close links with other members of the respiratory MDT - including DAIRS team & Respiratory Champions in Primary Care

- To work to trust and professional clinical guidelines and have a good working knowledge of relevant national standards to which quality of practice should be monitored.
- Participate in the staff appraisal scheme as an appraisee and an appraiser and be responsible for complying with your agreed personal development programme to meet set knowledge and competencies. To be responsible for the appraisal and professional development of designated pathway in line with the requirements of the trust.
- Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance at, and participation in, in-service training programmes, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review
- Be actively involved in professional clinical groups such as CSP, BTS, RCOT, RCN or Clinical interest groups.
- Attend trust mandatory training sessions and adhere to trust and departmental policies and procedures
- Maintain state registration with HCPC or RCN and provide evidence of registration on request
- To fully participate in whatever pattern of working is required by the service in the future
- To contribute to clinical induction of pulmonary rehabilitation staff
- To undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by Team Lead
