Werneth’s HART facility is a key facility in school, working under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead/AHT, and the Senior Leadership Team. The facility is a calm and welcoming space for students to receive 1-2-1 support and small group mentoring to support their wellbeing and mental health.

HART is one of our key inclusion facilities within school, and this new position recognises its importance in the future direction of inclusion practices for the school.

The HART Facility Lead will work under the direction of an Assistant Headteacher to lead all aspects of HART’s inclusion provision. There has never been a more important time post-COVID to invest in supportive structures to include every child. It is time to review and clarify our existing provision in terms of its remit and purpose. This dedicated position will increase the capacity to do this.

This position arises as one of our part-time members of staff is leaving us to pursue further qualifications. You would be joining an existing member of the team, as well as a wider network of our wide reaching pastoral team.

This position will review and lead:

- Admissions into school, and the admission process
- All aspects of current HART provision - 1-2-1 and group mentoring for students who are struggling in school
- Mental health provision and support for students
- Young carer provision
- EAL students oversight
- Looked after children workload
- New developments and future direction for HART within our school

**JOB ROLE - HART Facility Lead**
- Working with SLT, to promote an ethos and attitude conducive to improved standards of mental health and wellbeing of all members of the community by setting high standards, establishing positive attitudes to mental health and effectively utilising resources to support mental health
- To enable all students to overcome personal barriers to learning and to help provide a structure that supports the safety and wellbeing of students, particularly with regard to the mental health of students
- To work with other staff to support engagement, attendance, behaviour, transition and progression in order to improve student progress and achievement
- To demonstrate the effectiveness of any interventions and the impact on student achievement

**Post responsibilities**
- To jointly lead on the strategic vision for promoting positive mental health across the school
- To ensure mental health and wellbeing is incorporated into the policies, pastoral support and curriculum of the school.
- To work with school staff and external agencies to identify students in need of extra support
- To work with students, staff and parents to support and engage managing mental health and access to provision with the DSL
- To develop plans of support that will develop resilience and effective strategies to succeed in school
- To provide a safe haven for students, and to mentor those who require it.
- To work with students across a spectrum of challenges - including attendance and behaviour - to achieve their potential
- To provide structured support to students as appropriate including counselling sessions, mentoring sessions and drop in facilities
- To liaise with outside agencies as appropriate
- To share information on students with mental health needs as appropriate
- To act as an additional DDSL, working with the DSL.
- To support and train staff as appropriate
- To provide evaluation and impact reports to SLT and other relevant stakeholders
- To develop the role in line with the requirements of the headteacher, senior leadership team and wider trust.
- As well as a focus on mental health and safeguarding, the role will involve oversight of HART’s other facilities, working with the AHT/DSL, and other staff:

- Admissions to school
- Students with English as an additional language
- Young Carers
