We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to a newly established position within the School of Dentistry at Cardiff University, Heath Park, Cardiff. The appointee will work in the Advanced Therapies Group, a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, microbiologists, pharmacists, cell biologists and engineers, whose research aims to develop novel therapies for chronic infective and/or inflammatory conditions.
- We require an enthusiastic individual with an established track record of research in microbiology or a biofilm-related discipline. The appointed individual will have a proven ability to perform high quality research. Initially working with the support of the current Principal Investigators and established funding, the post holder will be supported to securing independent funding and develop their own program of collaborative research. They will have the potential to lead in developing/ delivering work at an international standard in this area.

- £44,737 - £51,805 per annum (Grade 7) or
- £53,353 - £61,823 per annum (Grade 8)

**Main function**
To deliver high-quality and research-led teaching at both, undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contribute to the research profile of the School through internal and external collaboration, securing research funding and publishing internationally-excellent research outputs. To demonstrate excellence in research, teaching and enterprise and to inspire others to do the same.**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**Research**
- Grade 8: publish in international journals and/or other research outputs_
- To independently develop research objectives, projects or proposals for joint research including research funding acting as a PI as required. To develop research networks through regular national/international conference/seminar presentations and publications
- To contribute fully to the management of postgraduate research and participate fully in School research activities

**Teaching**
- To supervise the work of students including the supervision of Undergraduate and Masters students, the co-supervision of PGR’s and acting as a PGR progress review panel member as required.
- To act as a Personal Tutor and provide pastoral support to students.
- To independently contribute to module and curriculum development and lead modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, inspiring students.
- To carry out other forms of scholarship including work associated with examinations (setting and marking paper and providing constructive feedback to students), administration, participation in committee work, and the pastoral care of Cardiff University students.

**Leadership (Grade 8 only)**
- To provide academic leadership by co-ordinating the work of others to ensure areas of research/degree courses are organised and delivered effectively.
