As part of the strategic development of the School of Engineering, we currently have 3 positions available for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with expertise in one or a combination of the following areas: Civil, Mechanical or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.- All 3 positions are full time, available immediately and are open ended.**Salary**:
Lecturer - £44,737 - £51,805 per annum (Grade 7 - Teaching and Scholarship)

- To undertake a full teaching load within the School of Engineering, including the development, delivery and evaluation of modules/programmes (civil, mechanical or electrical and electronic) within the undergraduate and post qualification provision within the School, with especial responsibility for Year 1 (cross-disciplinary) Engineering programmes. To supervise students and to carry out administrative duties within the work area as required. To pursue excellence in, teaching and to inspire others to do the same. To be active in pedagogic research/scholarly studies/enquiries relating to teaching and learning, and promote evidence based teaching practices within the School. To be active in national/international networks related to Engineering/STEM education.The School is in the process of launching a new approach to undergraduate teaching and these posts will have a key role to play in the implementation and evolution of this approach. The School intends to recruit three people to this role and one will sit in each of our three departments: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Further details are provided under the Additional Information section below.**Teaching**
- Contribute independently to module and curriculum development and lead modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, inspiring students (Grade 8: design, develop and deliver a range of programmes, developing innovative teaching techniques, engage in pedagogic research and scholarly activities) particularly in cross-disciplinary Year 1 programmes but also specifically in one of the following areas:
i. Civil engineering: covering civil engineering design and either structure geotechnics, water, materials or digital.
- ii. Mechanical & Medical Engineering (fundamentals of mechanics, dynamics, statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials and manufacturing) and Engineering Design
- iii. Electrical and electronic engineering with foundations in network analysis, electronic circuit theory, communications systems, and power electronics.- Carry out other forms of scholarship including work associated with examinations (setting and marking papers and providing constructive feedback to students), administration, participation in committee work
- Supervise the work of students including the supervision of Undergraduate and Master’s students, the co-supervision of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and acting as a PGR progress review panel member as required
- Manage projects relating to own area of work and the organisation of external activities such as placements and field trips.
- Supervise student projects, field trips and where appropriate placements.
- Supply pastoral care through both acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building and establishing trust

**Essential Criteria**

**Qualifications and Education**
- Postgraduate degree at PhD level engineering or relevant industrial experience
- Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or relevant experience (especially in facilitating student problem based learning)

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- mechanical & medical engineering (fundamentals of mechanics, dynamics, statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials and manufacturing) and engineering design;
