**Job Summary**:
Plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for the production of herbs, spices and food ingredients in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

The Production Supervisor must ensure teams are managed and developed in line with company strategy, understanding how to obtain the best results from their people by ensuring adequate support, training and measurements are used to obtain results.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Production Output**:

- Continually challenge targets for on time delivery, output, quality, waste and other associated KPIs.
- Responsible for all production, quality and delivery issues to ensure they are investigated, and an acceptable outcome is reached by working with relevant departments.
- Lead the daily production meeting, ensuring all points raised are responded to and resolved appropriately.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and/or efficiency.
- Conduct or assign employee training in equipment operations, work and safety procedures as appropriate.
- Read and analyse charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as required.

**People Management**
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance through appraisals and personal development plans.
- Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
- Manage all sickness absence including recording of telephone calls and completion of Return-to-Work Interviews.
- Manage all holidays ensuring the completion of all appropriate administration, that they comply with the Working Time Directive and meet the needs of the business.
- Confer with HR to negotiate and handle subordinate complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
- Ensure all colleagues are managed effectively to achieve daily targets on production.
- Ensure labour costs are kept in control while achieving output required.
- Actively work with the HR function on recruitment, selection and development of team members.
- To monitor, record and contribute to the development of factory employees and ensure on-going training and development is incorporated into individual training plans to encourage multi-skilled working and pro-active succession planning.

**Customer Service**
- Have a well-rounded understanding of business requirements and objectives, including financial understanding and the impact production has on overall profitability.
- Ensure that the site presents a ‘World Class’ image at all times.
- Understand the importance of customer service and the company culture relating to meeting our customers’ expectations and manage the team effectively to ensure this is achieved, within company guidelines.

**Quality**
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions and maintain all records in relation to HACCP.
- Continuous improvement of quality system procedures to meet the targets set for customer service and product quality.
- Assist Technical Manager with the preparation of records and equipment for Audits.

**Health & Safety**
- Ensure all team members comply with all PPE requirements as appropriate.
- Manage effective housekeeping within all areas of the factory in line food hygiene requirements.
- Take responsibility for managing the day-to-day health and safety matters and ensuring procedures are adhered to.
- Complete risk assessments as required in line with company timescales.
- Ensure the correct paperwork is completed in line with any accidents on site and appropriate personnel informed.

- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job.
- To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
