Mossgate Day Nursery is a modern, purpose built, 36 place nursery situated in Heysham - a residential area of Morecambe. The nursery prides itself in the support it offers staff with ample additional training opportunities and a competitive salary.

Due to increasing numbers of children, we are looking for a suitably qualified early years practitioner to fulfil the role of team leader to join our team as soon as possible.

The vacancy is for a permanent all year round post Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The hours are flexible but we are looking for someone to work a minimum of 30 hours per week

The starting salary is £12 an hour with automatic rises after 1, 3 and 5 years and salary reviews every April.

We offer a NEST pension with a 3% employer contribution

An attendance incentive of £50 a month is also paid to staff who attend on time and take no unscheduled time off

Some of the responsibilities will include:
Ensuring a safe environment for children and adults in the group which includes:

- Working as a team member in the daily routine
- Ensuring equipment is well maintained and safe to use
- Ensuring good hygiene standards are maintained
- Ensuring safety procedures for fire drill, arrival/departure and during the session itself are enforced and regularly reviewed

Ensuring the provision of high quality care and education for the children which includes:

- Planning a curriculum, which will offer each day, a wide variety of toys and equipment to stimulate and support children’s learning through play in the foundation stage of the curriculum.
- Acting as a key worker to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- Ensuring that all activities reflect positively the linguistic, religious and cultural diversity of the community.
- Attendance on relevant courses and at meetings as required.
- Deputising for the deputy manager, as appropriate.
- Ensuring the absolute confidentiality of any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is obtained in connection with this employment.

You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:

- A minimum Level 3 qualification which meets the approved ‘full and relevant’ criteria for early years qualifications.
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Knowledge of OFSTED standards
- Good knowledge of the EYFS
- Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities / SENCO etc.

All applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS
