**A quick look at the role**

The **HR Advisor** provides customer focused, comprehensive and pragmatic HR advice and support to managers, staff and employees in line within company policies, procedures and legal requirements. You will be responsible for supporting operational sites across the north of the country.

- Support the Head of HR and HR Business Partners with the provision of day-to-day Human Resources service to operational managers
- Provide a dedicated HR advisory service, including absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organisational change and the range of employment and employee relations matters
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with service areas, colleagues and employee representatives, establishing professional credibility
- Lead on the management of casework, relating to sickness absence. This includes making recommendations, giving advice and support to managers, liaising with Occupational Health, case review meetings, and dismissal hearings
- Support the development and maintenance of a performance management culture within the service area by developing managers’ skills and leading on capability-related casework
- Support HR Business Partners with disciplinary and grievance casework, ensuring legislation, policy and best practice are followed
- Prepare regular and ad hoc management information reports
- Provide HR advisory input into service area projects, such as change management programmes and working groups as require
- Assist the Business Partners with the preparation and issue of appropriate contractual documentation in relation to appointments, terminations and variations of employment
- Advise managers on recruitment and selection issues, including development of job descriptions, person specifications, the selection processes and participating in selection panels when necessary

**Requirements**:

- Part-CIPD and working towards full CIPD (or equivalent qualification)
- 3 years’ experience of working within a HR function, preferably with some in a Unionised environment
- 12 months’ experience of providing advice and support on HR policies / procedures
- Experience to occupational health case management
- Exposure to provision of advice on disciplinary and grievance matters
- Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
- Understands key aspects of performance management; employee engagement, managing disciplinary and grievance issues and recruitment and selection etc
- Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a diplomatic and professional manner
- Confident communicating and influencing at all levels
- Well organised with excellent attention to detail
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Resilient with the ability to perform under pressure and to tight deadlines
