**Job Specification for Supply Chain Warehouse Operative NVQ Level 2**

Horizon is expanding its Supply Chain & Warehouse team. This new role complements a small existing team of experienced friendly personnel at our head office in Blidworth.

Our workers on site use a wide variety of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) this includes climbing equipment such as harnesses, ropes, lanyards, Karabiner’s, rescue equipment, scaffolding, ladders. This equipment is inspected by a competent person at Horizon, then stored in the warehouse until required. When equipment is used and returned to the warehouse it is put into Quarantine until it has been re-inspected to ensure it is still fit for use.

You will learn to use our computer software and App’s to record and find information you require in your role. We use a specialist piece of software called “Hilti” to record each item of equipment we hold in stock, this system records that the item has been inspected and is available, when it was last inspected and when it is due its next inspection. When equipment is issued to a person to use, we update the computer system to record who the item has been issued to and when.

It is very important that our work equipment is inspected and safe for our personnel to use and that we record the dates of inspected and who the equipment has been issued to or if the item is in stock in the warehouse.

Some equipment will return to the warehouse damaged or beyond repair. This equipment will be quarantined and inspected and if beyond repair this will be recorded on the computer system and the item destroyed so that it can not be accidentally issued out for use. If the item can be repaired, this needs to be arranged and recorded on the Hilti system so that we know where the item is.

If an item of equipment is destroyed or sent away for repair we must consider if we need to purchase or hire in a replacement to ensure we have enough to issue out to our personnel, otherwise this could prevent them working on site.

We stock a large number of items of both PPE and work equipment such as bolts/clips/general tools/ breakers/grinders/ generators/Cable/ Tape/Drills/ Earth Testers to name just a few.

We also stock Paints/ adhesives/Resins which are stored in labelled racking, COSHH assessed and monitored for safety. You will be trained in handling and storage of COSHH products.

You will take receipt of goods delivered on pallets or trolleys, process goods Inwards paperwork, replenish stock on the stores racking, ensure the warehouse is kept clean and tidy and there are no trip hazards.

When you have completed and passed training in Fork Lift Truck Driving you will offload goods from delivery vehicles and onto the racking using the FLT.

Applicants must be reliable with good general fitness to work in this environment, possess good IT skills, excellent communication and a keen eye for detail is important in our business because we need to ensure our personnel work safely and have the correct equipment to help them stay safe on site. Therefore everyone involved in checking equipment and ensuring the correct materials are issued need to work together.

What this apprenticeship teaches you

The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 apprenticeship provides prospective warehouse operatives with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the role of a warehouse operative.

Examples of units covered are:

- Warehouse practices and processes
- Using warehouse equipment, machinery and vehicles
- Using basic IT
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, customers, third party carriers and other organisations.
- The apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months to complete prior to taking the end-point assessment.

The apprentice will be assessed through practical observations in the workplace undertaken by Learning Unlimited. The apprentice will undertake vocational training in the workplace and will also complete an underpinning knowledge test and practical assessment.

You receive 20% off the job training during this Apprenticeship which is included in your weekly working hours.

**What this apprenticeship teaches you**

The Warehousing and Storage Level 2 apprenticeship provides warehouse operatives with a qualification to demonstrate they possess the skills and knowledge required to carry out their role to a professional standard. In addition, it confirms to the employee that they have a range of flexible skills backed up by a nationally recognised vocational qualification.
