We have a new secondment opportunity within the Adult Renal Dietetic Team at NUH, 0.6 WTE (3 or 4 days a week, with flexible hours) part-time for two years. The opportunity has arisen due to a member of the team securing funding to undertake research. You will work as a member of the multi-professional team (MDT) team leading and supporting renal dietitians and other member of staff in our population with kidney disease. You will look after a complex group of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis. You will also be involved in covering our large outpatient CKD services, inpatients wards, transplantation, and peritoneal dialysis and will support other staff with their on service development. You will work towards collecting renal outcomes measure and evidence and promote the role of the renal dietitian in our dynamic and supportive MDT.

NUH is looking for an experienced renal dietitian with a strong ability to work independently as well as working as part of the MDT. The post holder will be required to work mainly with patients on dialysis and outpatient clinics and it will include some inpatients work. The role requires flexible time working as it does include some evening shifts at one of our dialysis units and late clinics. You will predominantly based at the City Hospital Campus and supporting cover at our satellites units. You will also be responsible for the service development and leadership of others dietitians. This post is ideal for a dietitian wishing to develop their clinical, leadership and service development skills. You will take part in education events, student training/ staff teaching and lead renal dietetic audit and service developments, in collaboration with other members of the MDT.

Working for our organisation

We are a large and friendly department of around 100 staff including assistants and technicians providing dietetic and nutrition support across all areas of the Trust and beyond. The Service has excellent IT facilities and a dedicated group of non-registered staff who help provide dietetic support. Peer support would be available from dietitians working in other specialties at both campuses and external burn services, through established dietetic relations.

The Trust is committed to providing excellent nutritional care, led by its Nutrition and Hydration Steering committee. We have close links with the University of Nottingham, and take student dietitians for A, B and C placements.

We expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated, able to evidence continuing professional development and keen to develop yourself and others. Experience of nutritional support and evidence of a varied clinical experience is essential.

- HCPC registration
- Diploma or degree in relevant qualification
- Evidence of Master's level study or working towards
- Able to maintain professional portafolio CPD
- Evidnece of post registration education/courses

Experience

- Wide ranging and extensive experience of working within specialist area
- Experience of delegating to and supervising other members of the team
- Able to plan and deliver clinical education about theory and practice to individuals, team and the wider MDT (including students)
- Knowledge of current best practice within a clinical specialty
- Knowledge of national and local standards and national guidelines
- Able to undertake evidence based audit of own practice and the practice of other staff within a specific clinical area
- Able to evaluate current research and make recommendations for change in practice and implement these changes

Analytical and judgement skill
