London, United Kingdom London Tri-Borough Councils Full time

**Job Summary**:
**Salary range**: £37,575 - £41,286 per annum
**Work location**: London
**Hours per week**:36
**Contract type**: Permanent
**Vetting requirements**:Enhanced DBS Check
**Closing date**: 25th February 2024
**Interview date**: 5th March 2024

**About Us**:
**Improve the educational and employment prospects for our children and young people**

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people, businesses, schools and other educational organisations at the heart of everything we do, working alongside them to provide quality services that are responsive and effective. Committed to acting with openness, honesty and compassion, we aim to listen and understand in a way that is respectful, encourages involvement and meets the needs of our diverse communities.

**The Role**:
When you join us in this vital role it’ll be your task to be an inspirational and motivating leader when it comes to improving the outcomes for looked after children and those who were previously looked after. You’ll have a particular focus on promoting good school attendance, addressing behavioural challenges and providing high quality support for those that are at risk of exclusion or are not in education, employment or training (NEET).

Committed to working collaboratively with local agencies and schools, improving engagement and removing barriers to education, employment or training, you’ll monitor and assess the needs of anyone who is not being educated or is at risk of becoming NEET, and advocate for the support they’ll need to fulfil their potential. Sometimes you’ll be expected to work with children or young people in educational settings, the community or at their homes, and your dedication will help them gain confidence and navigate their journeys into further education, apprenticeships, work experience or employment.

You’ll have a range of additional responsibilities, including using data to monitor those at risk of persistent absence from school and using a positive approach to understand the challenges experienced by particular groups. Always ready to escalate any concerns to an Educational Psychologist or Advisory Teacher, we’ll also expect you to develop reports on levels of NEET, attendance and exclusions, and work with employers to support young peoples’ transition from education to employment.

Please refer to the **Job Description** **for more information

**About You**:
With proven experience of working with vulnerable children and young people, and capable of understanding their educational and employment needs, we’ll look for evidence of continual professional development and good knowledge of all the relevant legislation and policies. You’ll have an empathetic approach to the issues faced by those who have poor school attendance or are experiencing barriers to education and understand the reasons why some might be facing exclusion, behavioural challenges or the risk of becoming NEET.

We’ll expect you to be capable of implementing positive and engaging school inclusion initiatives, and your excellent communication skills will allow you to work with children, young people, parents and carers from a diverse range of communities. Ready to use all your team working and organisational skills to build strong partnerships with schools, local services and other providers, your knowledge of EET pathways will create access to opportunities in further education, apprenticeships, work experience and employment.
